perfectionists beware! January 18, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Taking the other review into consideration, I applied this screen protector in an extremely dust free environment (my father's science lab with an anti-dust filtration system). This still wasn't perfect...
The protective screens (there were 3 in all, 1 for the ipod classic screen, 1 for the silver back, and 1 for the scroll wheel) were poorly packaged as they had sticky tabs that left a little residue on each other. This residue could be wiped off with a drizzle of water and the cleaning pad that came with the protectors, but they should have been clean to begin with.
I decided to apply the screen protector first - it was an extremely delicate operation, and the static cling grips fast, which caused the protector to lay slightly askew from the screen. If I weren't such a perfectionist I would have let it be, because no dust was trapped underneath. However, I decided to peel it off and try again, and as soon as I did, the dust found its way... I was able to get most of it off with soap and water but now there's a few small blemishes, what I had to sacrifice to get it properly aligned.
When I turn the ipod on, these blemishes are virtually unnoticeable, and the protector will save your ipod from most scratches (though it may get scratched itself), so if you aren't too anal about getting the perfect alignment (or if you have surgeon's hands), these protectors might do the job for you. I personally wasn't that impressed though, and didn't even bother applying the other two protectors (the screen was what I was most concerned about anyway).
Covers with dust December 19, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
the sticky part of it attracted dust and it got trapped beneath it on the screen. It made it ugly and unusable immediately and was a complete waste of money. you would have to purchase many of them before you finally got one on without dust. They are not reusable, unless you happen to be in a completely sanitized room with absolutely zero dust.
